Longwood, Eastbourne

Longwood, situated on the corner of Silverdale Road and Fairfield Road in Eastbourne, East Sussex, is a detached three storey property dating back the late Victorian period which has been converted into 5 apartments surrounded by attractive communal gardens.

Historically, the building was managed by the joint freeholders, and in early 2023 we were approached and invited to see the property and provide a proposal to take on the day-to-day management duties on their behalf.  After having appointed another agent in the summer of 2023, the Directors of the Freehold Company unfortunately were not satisfied, and we were eventually appointed in November 2023, and we were pleased to be able to offer our guidance to help make positive changes to the management.  Suffice to say, we continue to manage the site and have developed a very positive relationship with the Directors, who have been able to enjoy some respite in allowing us to handle their duties.

Upon being appointed, we were immediately tasked with arranging essential fire safety work to the building’s substantial basement/cellar, and we quickly began work to progress the project alongside the client’s building surveyor, helping our client to achieve compliance with up-to-date regulations.

We have also spent a lot of time with the owners to produce a suitable service charge budget in order to adhere to their unique lease requirements, and part of this included a full survey of the building to provide an overview of its maintenance needs, paving the way for a workable, long-term maintenance plan.

A few words from our client, but says so much  ……

Oakfield took over the management of our block last year after it had been largely self managed for ever. Many challenges awaited them but the whole Oakfield team have been outstanding. Totally professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with in every scenario, bringing good and positive humour and action into every situation. They really know their stuff and they are getting us properly on track now. Totally recommended.
